It´s this time of the year again.
Longing for Up North. Svalbard. Iceland. Norway.
Getting out there just to feel alive.
Wishing I could go today, rather than tomorrow.
As the German sky turns grey, my longing for real winter grows. I remember a return flight from Trondheim, Norway. We had been shooting a testimonial story for BASF Master Builders, and the winter sun in Trondheim still had me enchanted. This was when I stumbled over the reportage on Svalbard / Spitsbergen in the inflight magazine of SAS. Eversince, the longing for the far north returns each time the days get shorter in central Europe. As a surrogate to exploring the Arctic, I hike and campout in the local woods or indulge in photographs of mountains, forest, solitude and snow.
